Specify exposure and finish before ordering
Describe the site: country and location, nearby coast, direct spray or wind exposure, sheltered elevations and any industrial contamination. Ask the finish provider to assess the exposure and recommend the coating system. Dulux's specification guidance treats the substrate, preparation, coating choice and environment as connected decisions.
Request the finish manufacturer and product reference, colour and gloss reference, preparation requirements and written care documents. A visually similar colour is not proof that two quoted finishes have the same specification. Confirm any proposed warranty separately with its issuer and applicable conditions.
Set an exposure-based care schedule
Dulux's powder-coating care document explains that cleaning frequency depends on environmental conditions and contamination; sheltered areas may retain deposits that rain does not remove. Use the instructions for the selected finish to set the interval, with earlier inspection where visible deposits develop.
Create a location list covering exposed frames, sheltered recesses and surfaces that are difficult to access. Assign a responsible person and a safe access method. Record the first inspection date and review what it reveals before carrying an assumed schedule forward. Do not copy another property's interval without checking the finish and exposure.
Use the approved cleaning method for each material
For its powder coatings, Dulux describes gentle removal of loose deposits, cleaning with a soft non-abrasive tool and diluted mild detergent, followed by rinsing with clean water. That is manufacturer guidance for the relevant coating; it is not permission to use the same chemical on every glass coating, gasket, sealant or hardware component.
Keep the actual product instructions available to the maintenance team. Obtain advice before treating stubborn staining, coating damage or construction residue. Do not turn a general care article into an improvised solvent, abrasive or high-pressure cleaning procedure.
Inspect drainage and operation without altering the system
Ask the supplier to identify the intended drainage outlets and provide the cleaning and hardware-maintenance instructions for the delivered system. Record accessible debris, damage, unusual rubbing or changes in operation, with a photo and opening mark. Route unresolved issues to the supplier or local maintenance professional.
Keep coating care and hardware servicing as separate checklist lines. Do not add lubricant, dismantle parts, enlarge drainage holes or seal an unfamiliar opening simply because another window uses that method. Ask the supplier to identify the drainage path for the delivered system; do not alter an outlet from a generic illustration.
